James (Jim) Edward Swise, 80, Maquon, Illinois, passed away at 2:04 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the Genesis hospital in Davenport, IA, while surrounded by his family. Per his wishes he will be cremated with no services. Online condolences may be laft at www.rungemortuary.com.


Jim was born the fifth of eleven children (seven girls and four boys) on May 5, 1937, in Cuba Illinois, to Lloyd and Katherine Swise. He married Betty Lou Yocum in Prairie City, IL, on December 6, 1958. Jim is survived by three children, Randy Edward Swise...

Jim was born the fifth of eleven children (seven girls and four boys) on May 5, 1937, in Cuba Illinois, to Lloyd and Katherine Swise. He married Betty Lou Yocum in Prairie City, IL, on December 6, 1958. Jim is survived by three children, Randy Edward Swise of Maquon, IL, Kimberly Sue (Scott) Guenther of Houston, TX, and Karrie Lynn (Bill) Brooks of Great Falls, MT; nine grandchildren, Kathy (Troy) Coone, Kelly Swise, Michelle Swise, Ethan Swise, Rachell Swise, Rebecca Swise; Krystal Guenther, Klent (Catelyn) Guenther, and Katelyn Brooks; and twenty three great grandchildren.

Jim served his country in the USAF. He worked at McGrew Farms in Roseville, IL, and Admirals in Galesburg, IL. He worked for over 50 years at Block Farms in Maquon, IL, from where he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 of his siblings, his wife, and his second-born son, Lester.
Cremation rites will be accorded with Runge Memorial & Crematorium. His family will be available to receive condolences at his home (1770 Knox Hwy 17 Maquon) on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A main dish will be provided, please bring a dish to share. Contributions can be left to the Estate of James Swise.
