Robert Thomas Riebe, 78, of Davenport, passed away, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Faith United Methodist Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, prior to the service at church. Robert was born on April 23, 1939 in Newton, Iowa, the son of William and Amelia (Shields) Riebe. He was united in marriage to Dixie Frye on September 14, 1974. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2003.

Robert was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers for 50 years. He enjoyed playing his trumpet in their brass band and other brass ensembles. He was a longtime Toastmaster receiving several awards. He was friendly and generous and always looking out for others. He was a very dedicated and loving husband. Robert loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Faith United Methodist Church, where he was very active as a lay leader, treasurer, and choir member. Robert also was a train enthusiast.

Those left to honor his memory include his twin brother, Bill (Barbara) Riebe and sister, Sue (Michael) Miller; eight nieces and nephews, Michelle (Mrs. Alan) Schwartz, Tami Aschenbrener, Michael Thompson, Cindy (Mrs. Steve) Nisser, Michele (Mrs. Bob) Henry, Julie (Mrs. Mark) Morris, Tanecia Walker, and Nicole (Mrs. Gene) Lebahn, several great nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Ruth Frye, sister-in-laws Mary Jane (Mrs. Arthur) Bryant, Richard (Karen) Frye, Ruth Ann (Mrs. Gene) Castor and Betty (Mrs. Jim) Stansberry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dixie, and a niece Nicole Robertson.
